About Gombe Stream National Park

Gombe National Park is a renowned protected area located in the western part of Tanzania, near the shores of Lake Tanganyika. It is most famous for being the site of groundbreaking research on chimpanzees, primarily led by Dr. Jane Goodall in the 1960s. The park is situated in the Gombe Stream Reserve, covering an area of around 52,000 hectares (about 130,000 acres). It is one of the smallest national parks in Tanzania, but it holds significant ecological importance.
