The sanctuary enjoys a temperate, semi-arid climate due to its location between Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru.
Dry Season (June–October): Cooler temperatures, clear skies, ideal for wildlife viewing.
Wet Season (November–May): Short rains (Nov–Dec) and long rains (March–May), making the landscape lush and green, but some roads may be muddy.

By Car: About 1.5 hours from Arusha and 1 hour from Moshi. Follow the A23 highway and turn onto Engare Nairobi Road.
By Public Transport: Daladalas run from Arusha or Moshi to Engare Nairobi. From the town center, you can hire a taxi or walk (~5 km).
